KAREN FUNSTON Partner
Karen is a founding partner of the firm and focuses her practice primarily on business law, employment law, and nonprofit law. She is skilled at advising clients with all aspects of their practical and legal needs and guides them through the legal process. Her logical and cooperative approach to problem solving has been an asset to many clients in crises or facing difficult decisions.
Before becoming an attorney, Karen served as Director of the Bellingham Food Bank Network, an administrator for Womencare Shelter, an administrative staff member for the Whatcom County Department of Public Works, and as a bookkeeper for various local businesses. These past experiences enhance her work today and help her assist her clients.
Karen counsels her business clients in long-term planning and employs an innovative approach to transactions. Her experience representing both employers and employees gives her the ability to see all sides of an issue, and enables her to provide clients with the necessary information to make the right choices. Karen also understands the complexities of nonprofit law, and helps boards identify their responsibilities and promote best practices.
